International Expert Meeting will Discuss Demographic Challenges in Southeastern Europe
Today, 7 October 2015, in CHRDRI was launched a two-day international expert level preparatory meeting for the international conference on: “Facing the demographic challenges experienced by the SEECP participants, within the Programme of the Bulgarian Chairmanship-in-Office of the South-East European Cooperation Process July 2015 – June 2016 It was organized by MLSP in the program of the Bulgarian presidency of SEECP for the period 2015-2016. The meeting is expected to support the development process of formulation of ideas and proposals to enhance cooperation in the field of demographic policy and labour mobility.
The forum was welcomed by the deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Gulab Donev and the director of CHRDRI Mr. Rosen Tumbev. All the participants in the meeting were welcomed also by Mr. Cyril Kiryakov by the European Commission, Mr. Edward Yongstra of the UN Fund for Population in Eastern Europe, Ms. Despina Siri from Regional Cooperation Council, and Ms. Dorothea Schmidt from ILO.
The meeting was attended by SEECP involved experts from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as other experts of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy of the Republic of Bulgaria dealing with demographic policy and labour market.
In the work program of the Forum special attention is paid to international expertise in the management of demographic change in Southeastern Europe in the development of quality human capital as a key to sustainable economic growth. As guest lecturers are invited representatives of the UN Fund for Population in Eastern Europe and Central Asia and the International Labour Organisation.
